by Nancy Campbell...

In 1981 we produced a recording of songs, especially written to encourage mothers and wives called, Her Price is Above Rubies. Most of these songs were written and sung by two sisters, Lois Jordan and Janie Burton. This record was such a blessing and in 1983 we produced a second album called, The Hand that Rocks the Cradle. These songs were also written and sung by Lois and Janie. I am sure there must be many ABOVE RUBIES readers who are still enjoying these old albums. Serene was only four years old when we produced the first album, but I still hear Serene and Pearl singing some of the songs.

Serene and Pearl were very influenced by Lois and Janie as they listened to them sing as little girls. I kept a vision in my heart to produce another ABOVE RUBIES album and secretly thought that one day it would be Serene and Pearl who did it. And yes, that vision was fulfilled. When we came to America, they were signed to a record label and became full-time recording and singing artists under the name of Considering Lily. They could not record for Above Rubies while signed to a record label and I waited in patience.

The time came when they married and children came along. They no longer wanted to pursue their singing career with children and so came home to enjoy their mothering. They began to write songs for mothers and recorded their first album for wives and mothers called Peace All Over Me. They were able to do this without having to go out "on the road" and still be with their children. They have now written the songs for their next album, which they will start recording very soon.
